Continuing from Part 1 At this stage you should have your Excel spreadsheet or zip file ready to upload, so now we are going to show you how. 1. In your admin area click the little down arrow next to "Products" as shown below.
2. Click on "Import Products" in the menu as shown below.
3. The next step may be slightly different depending on your browser but there should be a field labelled "Upload file". Browse for your Excel (.xls or .xlsx) file, or your ".zip" file if you have chosen to upload images and/or RTF documents as well.
4. Once your file is selected click the "Upload" button. Depending on the size of the file it may take a few moments to actually upload it. Once it has uploaded you will see a progress bar appear to show you how much of the file has been processed by the server. Note: You can use a zip file to upload multiple spreadsheet files at the same time. For large product databases splitting the products across multiple smaller excel files can yield a performance benefit in terms of the time it will take to process those products. In addition, this could be helpful in cases where the products are organised into logical groups (manufacturers or suppliers for example). In these cases each excel file will have it's own progress bar displayed. Once the progress bars are displayed you can navigate away from this page and the files will continue to process on the server. | |
